Walk With Me- Sometimes you need to wander in a different direction. Life has been FULL of twists and turns, deep saddens and great wins the last couple of years. I’ve thought quitting is the most reasonable thing to do. MANY times. Yet, I keep pushing forward. Not sure how or why except a constant desire for better, for equality, for art, for goodness and for what matters. Walking-wandering – getting lost has always been able to clear my mind- especially in my favorite place Paris. There is something about the respect for art in Paris that I love. Respect for history, architecture, love of food and wine and culture. Take some time to get lost

Walk With Me I haven’t taken a break from Fresh Kills in almost 5 years for many reasons. The toll it’s taken on my life, mentally, physically, monetarily has been drastic. The endless zooms, pushing, explaining, asking for permission, writing, editing, marketing, organizing, plotting, planning, explaining, not to mention the fearing of “what did I do” “Will this work” has been a lot- to say the least. In this country we are as good as what we produce. “Girl Boss” or “hustle culture” all designed to put money in the pockets of the ones that hold all the keys by making you feel like you’re never enough. Pushed you to keep running for the carrot in the stick that stays just out of reach. Then even when you do the thing and it’s good- still not enough. It’s designed that way on purpose. They say you see who you really r when you’re pushed to the mat. Well I’ve seen me- up close and in dark dark spots- and you know what- I’m good. Im very proud of not giving up and still won’t because I KNOW my value and what I’ve done. That’s becuz of YOU all too. I am beyond grateful to those, especially @jespervesterstroem for allowing me the space and the trust to go down this road with Fresh Kills. Which is why getting away now to just WALK- walk through lives, places, cultures, streets, of others really reminds you of what’s most important again- LIFE. The beauty out there is endless. The trees, the sky, the people, the love of food and art all makes it worth it- this thing called living. Go experience some life today. Filmed some at @capelongue I’ll be calling again soon! I took a few days off from A Rebellious Life as I’d don’t know how to get around and have ANYTHiNG to say about all the destruction taking place at the moment. Then I realized it’s okay to not know what to say or do when life just keeps coming. Taking some time to do nothing and just feel the grief and pain for the world, LA, the animals and so much more is being human. We need more human behavior don’t we. My heart goes out to all those who are suffering.

A Rebellious Life episode 5. Celiac AND a dairy, egg, oat allergy in Paris is a cruel joke. Especially when you’ve been in Paris when you didn’t know you had celiac and was able to experience the amazing bread, pastry and best hot chocolate of your life. While there are many great celiac friendly bakeries that are amazing finding a vegan hot chocolate is almost impossible- well I found one at @hoyparis @mesa.paris and WOW. It really is less about the drink or the gluten free bread it’s more about getting around your limitations, reframing and finding new ways to live FREELY! There’s ALWAYS a way! @a_rebellious_life

Just want to say a HUGE congrats to my “daughters” @odessaazion and @emily_bader with 2 HUGE roles up next! When I cast them I was told by many “you need stars instead.” I knew I needed ACTORS- the RIGHT actors- to do the intense heavy lifting that Fresh Kills demanded. Then when trying to get distribution (took a year) I also heard, “if only you had stars in your film- no one will care if you don’t.” The work these two amazing young women did in Fresh Kills should have been enough. Sadly, that’s not the case. I’m thrilled for them that their TALENT has moved them ahead. I wish Fresh Kills would have been given a little more respect that the “stars” were right there all along- hidden under great WORK!!!! Sad that so many indie films get lost in this maze of celebrity insanity. If I had a small part in helping these two rise by giving them a platform to shine- then I’m thrilled. I started writing Fresh Kills many many MANY years ago for myself- a young actress who deeply desired better, well formed, multi-layered characters. I’m glad I could see these roles come to fruition if not for myself at that age but for two extraordinary young women. Sometimes it’s all about doing what you wish someone could have done for you. The questions was “what’s you’re dream for 5 years from now” to my surprise big dreams where not expressed. Some had none. In a class I taught recently the writing prompt was “ you can go anywhere tomorrow and do anything- where do you go?” NO ONE went anywhere but back. Back to pain, trauma or responsibilities that’s kept them stuck. We have to look at the cage that keeps us confined and ask if we have a part in that. To grow- we ALL must look at how we are contributing to the cycle you complain about. My new class, ESCAPISM : FREEDOM WRITING is sold out but get on the wait list for the next. Your time is not done here until you’re dead. You’re NOT dead. Just remember the powers that be would LOVE for you to forget your dreams, your goals, yourself. Rebel- and remember!!
