DAY 1 of the Landesa Kenya visit! 🇰🇪 The day started with a short ride to the @landesaglobal offices—honestly, short enough that we could have walked, except I would have been terrified of crossing the street. The traffic in Nairobi is something to behold. I got to meet the amazing staff, including Director Shadrack Omondi (picture 1), also known as our intrepid leader. I also got to talk with Esther Mwaura, (picture 4) Director of Global Advocacy for @stand4herland. She was AMAZING and I have my fingers crossed that I’ll see her when she’s in the US soon to speak to at the UN. 🇺🇳 Kenyans are such gracious hosts—the Landesa office gave me a lovely gift, and so did Zamzam and Shampi, the founders of @northernvisioncbo. Zamzam and Shampi (pictures 7&8) are Bridgerton fans, and they will be in Seattle for Landesa’s Seed the Change fundraiser in March—I told them to leave room in their suitcases for swag! Finally, on the way back to the hotel we stopped at the mall to 1) get a suitcase so I could fit in all these wonderful gifts and 2) visit a bookstore. They didn’t carry any of my books. 😥 In fact, they didn’t have any historical romance, but they did have a great deal of contemporary romance. They were a ton of books by @alihazelwood (Yay Ali!) and I was super excited to see On Rotation by my friend @shirlywhirlmd. Stay tuned for Day 2, when we head out into the field…
