We are safe, thank you for the kind messages! For a great way to help, please visit Best Friends Animal Society @bestfriendsanimalsociety -I will post links in my insta profile and on my Facebook page. People have been displaced and many have needed to leave their animals at shelters. Best friends is literally flying homeless pets to their sanctuary in Utah to make room for the animals that need help from this disaster. They are a wonderful org that I’ve loved for many years so know that you can feel good about donating to this effort. LA folks if you can foster, that’s also a huge help. Thanks to all for the love you’ve sent our way.

We are safe, in a red flag zone but so far no evacuation. Slept a few hours, woke up to a massive black cloud of smoke blocking out the sun. Sad day in Los Angeles. I hope everyone and their beloveds both human and animal have found safety somewhere.

Charlie James Gallery is pleased to present Lisa Edelstein: DANCE ME TO THE END OF THE WORLD, an exhibition of new watercolor paintings and the artist’s first at the gallery. Edelstein mines her own family history in works that transform vintage photographs into compositions that acutely capture the color and texture of a particular moment in time. The images are candid, the figures largely unposed and caught off-guard, implying action on either side of the frozen moment depicted. Edelstein’s interest in storytelling arises across the various avenues of her artistic practice, including painting, writing, and acting. Opening this Saturday, January 18th from 5-8pm Lisa Edelstein DANCE ME TO THE END OF THE WORLD 969 CHUNG KING ROAD JANUARY 18 – FEBRUARY 15, 2025 OPENING RECEPTION: JANUARY 18, 5-8PM Charlie James Gallery is pleased to present Lisa Edelstein: DANCE ME TO THE END OF THE WORLD, an exhibition of new watercolor paintings and the artist’s first at the gallery. Edelstein mines her own family history in works that transform vintage photographs into compositions that acutely capture the color and texture of a particular moment in time. Edelstein’s interest in storytelling arises across the various avenues of her artistic practice, including painting, writing, and acting. The title of the exhibition references the Leonard Cohen classic whose instrumentation evokes traditional Jewish klezmer music. The song shares a cultural pride and dark sweet sadness with Edelstein’s paintings. This is an incredibly difficult moment for Los Angeles and for our art community. Both Lisa and the gallery have so many friends and colleagues who have been displaced, their homes completely lost.
