What an honor to be able to attend the opening exhibition “Elizabeth Catlett: A Black Revolutionary Artist, and All That It Implies” at @brooklynmuseum this past weekend. It’s taken me a few days to unpack all the emotions I had around this visit. We flew into NYC just for this opening and it was breathtaking… I was able to meet so many people that inspire me, besides being surrounded by the love of my family …. I could feel my grandmother’s love so deeply in the galleries being surrounded by her work, as her grandchild, as a Black woman, as a Mexican woman, as her living legacy… The experience truly shifted my perception of myself and I walk away feeling a deep love for myself in my viscera.
