Today I found myself explaining who Jesus was to my beloved – recalling stories from my days in Sunday School and sermons by my Tío Carlos who is a pastor in Argentina. And I was struck by my description of this figure who has been so misunderstood and exploited by organized religion. Jesus was an anti-establishment Jewish man, deeply critical of the wealthy and those who exploited religion to make money. He was UNEQUIVOCALLY committed to Non-Violence, hence his title The Prince of Peace. 🕊️His command to “turn the other cheek to those who would harm us” is still the hardest most profound spiritual lesson for me to wrap my head around and I will most likely spend my whole life trying to understand it let alone put it into practice. Today in Bethlehem Christmas is cancelled because the endless cycles violence and retaliation fueled by trauma know no end… that is why Jesus’s words are more pertinent than ever today: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” Praying for PEACE to reign in our hearts and across all nations. 🕊️ This photo is not connected to my caption but this algorithm loves to punish any post that is profound. So I’ll add this to my prayer too… May our algorithms also be attuned to principles of PEACE over division 🕊️ And lastly thank you to Jesus for your teachings of radical love and compassion. My beef has always been with organized religion and the actions of the Church in Your name but never You ❤️🕊️

The climate movement has forgotten a crucial piece of the puzzle – global trade! Countries are routinely importing and exporting vast quantities of identical products.. This primary source of emissions could be cut out almost overnight. And yet, global trade is not discussed at the COP climate negotiations. Instead, new forms of trade – like carbon trading, offsets, and energy and mineral exports – are promoted as solutions. As delegates gather at COP29, it’s vital to counter this insanity.
