Aditi Balan Instagram – Long overdue of the second part of this wonderful trip to kabini.
1. Start of the safari with my teenage niece who was all excited to spot wildlife for the first time in her life. @deepikakarthikkumar
2. We got lucky to spot the paw mark and trust me we were quite excited with just this initially.
3. This lone tusker was our first spot and I thought to myself what a pillayar suzhi this could be. We watcher the tusker for about 30 mins just roaming around and minding his own business. Little did we know we would lucky to get a call from a fellow safari driver about the next spot.
4. This chilled out , tummy filled leopard was just so casually passed out on a tree and we could just watch her for almost an hour. We all know that leopards are shy creatures and it’s not easy to spot on, leave alone staring at them for an hour.
5. I can’t even begin to explain this. Got lucky to sight the tiger just walking around marking its territory. Just few moments before something else could interest her.
6,7,8. She laid her eyes on a bison family and the next one and half hours was just her strategising her attack. What insane patience and planning went on. She really didn’t bother about the number of jeep sounds or baby cries. She was just glued on to her target , every move of hers was calculated. Her stance and her paws moves so slow in stealth mode. We were stunned watching her plan. So many things running in my head, about how we could learn so much from animals about patience, determination, planning, being focused.
It’s so beautiful how nature has its own ways. The deers which weren’t anywhere close but could sense the presence of a tiger with the smell gave out alarm calls which were then picked up by the male adult bison. They all work in sync and guide each other. Nature at its true essence.
Unfortunately we had to leave the reserve by 6pm but I’m sure she would have managed to get her meal.
