Michelle’s like. “Nah, I’m good. You go right ahead and go by yourself, Boo. I sat through that insanity once already. That’s enough for one lifetime. I’m out.” Good for her.
Tonight at the Oval Office, during @joebiden’s farewell address. Can we stop the bullshit about Kamala and Jill hating each other?
Trump is convening his first Cabinet Meeting today. Complete clown-show with Elon as ring-master. Apologies to clowns. 🤡
Gurrrrrrl….that makes two of us. Trump and Melania did not show-up to Biden’s swearing-in. Hell, they never accepted Biden won. They didn’t invite the Biden’s to the White House, as happens traditionally. Jill invited Melania to the White House after 2024 Election, and Melania didn’t show-up. Trump didn’t show-up to Rosalynn Carter funeral. So anybody taking issue with Michelle, please spare us the hypocrisy. If Michelle doesn’t want to be part of normalizing Trump, good for her. Nothing requires any of us to be part of any of this. If you want to watch, by all means do. It’s an important ceremony. If it’s not good for your soul or mental health, do something else. Do something that is.
Wow. Markenzy Lapointe, the Florida US Attorney leading the case against Trump’s shooter…is Haitian-American. Yes. He was born in Port-au-Prince, and came to the US at the age of 16. He also served in the US Marine Corps. 🇭🇹
@ananavarrofl reacts to President-elect Trump casting blame on California Gov. Gavin Newsom for the southern California wildfires.
Anita Bryant had died. She was a woman famous for her hateful anti-gay crusade many decades ago. Frankly, I hadn’t heard her name in forever and assumed she’d died a long time ago. It made me very happy to know she lived to see gay characters kissing on TV and featured in ads, and that she lived to see gay marriage and gay adoption become legal and a gay US Cabinet member, serving and living happily with his husband, their two children and their two dogs. Oh, and did I mention her grand-daughter is openly gay and married to a woman? ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜
24 years ago today, Pope John Paul II, made Jorge Bergolio of Argentina, a Cardinal. They have without a doubt, been the two most significant Popes of my 53 years as an imperfect Catholic. They both did some things I disagree with. They led the church in complicated times and did so with love, compassion and humanity. I am praying for Pope Francis.

@brookeshields tells #TheView about her experience aging in the public eye from her new book, ‘Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed To Get Old,’ and @ananavarrofl has a message for the haters.

I think he wants Greenland, just so he can pretend to be a Viking. Lord, how I’d like to send him to Greenland. Make that Orangeland.
Federal government workers are being demonized by Trump and Musk and the sheep that follow them. Shame on them.
Donald Trump does not get to be a very big part of the problem and then, blame it on the other side.
On today’s podcast, @ananavarrofl shares why she will not be tuning into President-elect Trump’s inauguration: “I don’t need to wait until January 20… to know who Donald Trump is. I’ve had 9 years of the man.” Listen to ‘Behind the Table’ wherever you get your podcasts.
@JohnQuinones shares how he draws upon his own life experience as host of the hit show, @wwydabc.
Please, please, please microchip your pets. Sharing a post by Pasadena Humane – “This adorable, fluffy dog (A518889) was found as a stray in a neighborhood near Fair Oaks Ave. and Orange Grove Blvd. in Pasadena, CA – We believe she may live in the area, since she seemed to be hanging out in the neighborhood rather than running through it, but we don’t know for sure. Unfortunately, she is not microchipped, but she is super friendly and we feel that someone out there must be missing her. Please share her post so we can get her back home! #LostTails If you believe this is your missing dog, please call us at 626.792.7151 ext. 997. give.pasadenahumane.org/give/654134/#!…
The bearded guy is Howard Lutnick, Trump’s Secretary of Commerce. He said the quiet part out loud, in front of the cameras. “You always say “yes” to the President.” That’s what Trump did. Surrounded himself by a whole lot of yes-men and women. Most of them are woefully unqualified and inexperienced for the jobs they are holding. But they meet the one qualification Trump requires, blind loyalty. There is literally no-one to push back on his stupid, hare-brained, authoritarian ideas. They are all just laughing along so as to stay close to power. History will judge these court jesters and accomplices very harshly. There are and will be no guard-rails to push back on Dear Leader until we vote those guard-rails in, in 2026. 🤦🏻♀️
Our tree looking a little worse for wear. Oh, how I ❤️ these ornaments. Frida! See you in December arbolito. 🎄
A measles outbreak and egg prices through the roof. Is America great again, yet? 🍳
You know I’m always talking about the need to find balance between tuning-in to what is happening in our country, and tuning-out and finding tranquility and joy. For me, that often comes with spending time with friends and doing things I love. Last night, I got to do both. My friends, @vegalteno and @lin_manuel and @johnleguizamo are among the producers if a fabulous new show coming to Broadway, about the Buena Vista Social Club and their lead singer, Omara Portuondo. @buenavistamusical was simply fabulous. It was nice to see Cuban classics portrayed on Broadway – El Cuarto de Tula, La Negra Tomasa, Lagrimas Negras, Dos Gardenias…. I was transported to 1950’s Cuba and sang-along with every song. There was a line in the play that as a Miamian, married to a Cuban exile, I found so poignant: “In this country (Cuba), there used to be all sorts of people. Rich, poor. Blacks, whites. Doctors, lawyers, housewives. Now we’ve been reduced to two types of people – those who left and those who stayed.” It premiers March 19th. Run! Don’t walk to go watch it.
