Prabha and Anu, two Malayali nurses living in Mumbai, navigate their personal struggles amid the city’s chaotic yet vibrant landscape. Prabha, reserved and dutiful, longs for her husband, who has not contacted her in over a year, while the more free-spirited Anu is entangled in a secret relationship with Shiaz, a Muslim man. As their lives intertwine, they seek moments of solace and self-discovery against the backdrop of an unforgiving metropolis.
Kapadia crafts an intimate and atmospheric portrait of Mumbai, using a mix of realism and poetic imagery. The film’s cinematography captures the monsoon-soaked streets with a dreamlike quality, immersing viewers in the city’s rhythm.
