Laurel Holloman is known for her vibrant use of color and larger-than-life paintings capable of capturing tumultuous emotions with a vivid movement that create a three-dimensional illusion. The Fifth Element and The Needle in The Haystack (3X2 m or 120×80 inches) are 2 significant art works of large format and have been exhibited at the Galerie Joseph (Paris) and at the Museum Jan (Amsterdam). The title of The Needle in The Haystack is self- explanatory. The Fifth Element is often referred to by philosophers as the non material element. It is the non tangible matter that connects us to each other and to the earth. For many it has often been described as “love”. Sophocles referred to the Fifth Element as quintessence.
