Mandana Karimi Instagram – Experiencing Surrealism in Delhi:
A Journey of Awe and Reflection…

I had the incredible opportunity to visit an exhibition in Delhi showcasing the works of Salvador Dalí—one of the most influential surrealists of all time. It was thrilling not just to see these masterpieces up close but also to meet Christina, the daughter of the gallerist, who has been traveling with these works worldwide.
Our conversation about her father’s legacy and the work they’ve done as a family to bring such significant art to different audiences was truly inspiring.

However, while I deeply appreciate the effort put into bringing these works to India, I couldn’t help but feel that the way the exhibition was presented didn’t do justice to the art itself. A few things stood out:

• Lighting & Display Issues: Some of the frames reflected too much light, making it difficult to view the details properly. Good lighting can enhance the experience, but poor lighting can take away from it.

• Framing & Presentation: The quality of the glass and frames didn’t match the stature of the artwork. Given Dalí’s legacy, these pieces deserve a more considered display.

• Space & Ambience: While I understand the exhibition was put together in just 24 hours, the space felt somewhat limiting for works of this scale and significance. Art needs room to breathe, and the way it is presented affects how it is perceived.

That being said, I am still incredibly grateful to have had the chance to see these works in person. For an art lover like me, any opportunity to engage with such masterpieces is a privilege. But I also believe that great art deserves great presentation—a setting that allows the viewer to fully absorb and appreciate its depth.

Sharing a few images from the exhibition, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did! ✨🤍 | Posted on 14/Feb/2025 11:56:24
