Misha Highstead Instagram – Amazon is FINALLY going to release its upgraded Alexa!
As you likely know, Alexa is the company’s virtual assistant. It lets users do things like create shopping lists, play music, stream podcasts, get the weather, and so on. But since its launch in 2014, it’s only seen relatively modest improvements.
Well, THAT’s apparently about to change! And the expected upgrades sound really impressive, because the new Alexa will be powered by generative A.I.!
The improvements mean that it’ll be much more conversational, and able to respond to a sequence of prompts, so users won’t have to ask just one thing at a time.
Reports say that it’ll even be able to act as an “agent”, taking actions on behalf of users without their direct involvement!
The upgraded Alexa will roll out to users slowly, and will at least START out free… but the suggestion of a five- or ten-dollar monthly fee has been floated. With well over half a BILLION Alexa devices out there, that could mean BIG money for @Amazon!
