Rashida Tlaib Instagram – I’m just listening to these babies talk, and my heart breaks. The first boy wants to go visit the grave of his beloved mother. Many just want to sleep on their own without bombs coming down from the sky. I know they are going back to no home (9 out of 10 homes were destroyed), and the neighborhoods they grew up in are unrecognizable. Hearing the one child say he can’t wait to go back to school. I don’t think his school will be there. The Israeli government’s genocide, funded by our country, forever changed these children. I’m forever changed in how I see the institution I work in who believe Palestinians don’t deserve to live.
As many celebrated the possibility of a ceasefire, the Israeli government dropped more bombs on these babies today. They are destroying more homes and continuing with their war crimes.
It’s all so sick. This all could have been stopped over a year ago if we followed international law and our own U.S. laws that prevented these war crimes.
I’m ashamed of our country’s role in allowing this genocide to happen.
