Here she comes… Amanda arrives on BBC ONE on Wednesday 5th at 9pm and she’s available on @bbciplayer too. Leading the cast are Lucy Punch as Amanda, Joanna Lumley as Felicity and Philippa Dunne as Anne with Samuel Anderson as Mal, Siobhan McSweeney @siobhni as Della, Rochenda Sandall @rochenda1 as Fi, @ekowquartey as JJ and @PeterSerafinowicz as Johannes. Post her divorce, Amanda has had to downsize and up sticks to South Harlesden, or as the Estate Agent calls it SoHa (definitely not the area around Wormwood Scrubs prison). With both Manus and Georgie now at secondary school, Amanda has to try and get her head around raising teenagers, dealing with modern motherhood horrors like teenage drinking, fake Instagram accounts and eco anxiety. Not even a woman as certain of her parenting as Amanda can deal with these nightmares alone. Then there’s Amanda’s mother Felicity (Joanna Lumley) who is constantly around, and completely in denial that she is, in fact, lonely. Theirs is a slightly unhealthy co-dependent relationship based on backhanded compliments and veiled snipes about her new home. After a brief spell of freedom, Anne (Philippa Dunne @phillydone) is sucked back into being Amanda’s minion to help her navigate the social scene with the other parents at the children’s new school. Thanks to @iftaacademy for a great night. Such impressive work made this year by Irish talent across the board so was not expecting to get a look in. But I’m happy for all the Bad Sisters season 2 team. And I’m really glad I got to talk about my dad who was always so fascinated and impressed by the skills of all the crew who worked in the show. He attended the IFTAs twice and charmed the pants off everyone. Mum did it by herself this time and I was so very proud. So preoccupied was I with talking about dad that I managed to forget pretty much everyone including (I think, it’s a bit of a blur) the most important member of the team @dearbhlawalsh. Without her the show just wouldn’t have been the same or anything like it. She’s the best of the best. Bad Sisters finale day. Also known as Christmas Eve. I don’t know how to write down what I’m feeling just yet so here’s a poorly worded video instead. I love this show. I love my sisters. And I’ll never stop being grateful for the experience of working with them and for all the love and advice and hugs and nights out on the tiles that followed. I hope you enjoy the episode.
