It was day 3 in Oslo and 2nd day of the shoot. After an early pack up I walked blocks around my hotel to explore Oslo. It was snowing, the church bells were ringing in the distance. I didn’t want to search online about “things to explore in Oslo”, instead wanted the city to reveal itself to me.
After walking for a while alone, I heard music. I could see through the foggy, snow dusted window a dimly lit pub/resto bar, elders and young in the audience, warm lights and jazz musicians performing live.
Of course I went in immediately! The cold outside was replaced with the warm, welcoming Norwegians inside. Not for a minute I felt ignored, unwelcomed, looked through and/or out of place. The people embraced me with questions, smiles and conversations, allowing a foreigner to blend in absorbing the music and the environment like I was their own. I walked my way back to the hotel feeling warm, safe and included.
And just like that, Oslo and I became friends ❄️ | Posted on 15/Feb/2025 19:07:41
