Stephanie Bendixsen Instagram – On my first attempt at exotic flow class (exactly a year ago) – I gave up half way through the term. I found the choreography complex and difficult to manoeuvre my body around, I felt clumsy and defeated and told myself I wasn’t good enough. But… I adored the movement style so much, I decided to just throw myself back into it and try again.
It wasn’t any easier. 😂 BUT… by the end of that term (and with a lot of practice), I felt the TINIEST bit more confident.
And then with each term that followed – patterns and shapes started to make their way into my brain, and my body got stronger… and with each new routine I started to see noticeable improvement.
I think so often we abandon creative pursuits early in the learning of them, because when we see ourselves as ‘not great’ at something – we become convinced that we don’t have the natural talent, or the ‘right’ body, or we’ve started too late in life. But anyone who is good at anything – simply took the time required to get better. I’m far from where I want to be, but I’m so enjoying the process of seeing myself improve, while losing myself in the simple joy and challenge of movement. | Posted on 06/Feb/2025 16:51:06
