Full disclosure-The Brutalist is not a movie I would ordinarily opt to go to but @netpixandwill has a penchant for movies a lil more, let’s call it highbrow, than what I like to watch🤭 so when the invite for a special preview screening came in for this, I thought, sure why not… At a whopping 215 minutes, it’s not exactly a quick watch, but once I settled down & stopped messing with @aileenhickie next to me, the film revealed layers of meaning as intricate as a well-designed architectural plan, with its minimalistic aesthetic & haunting visuals. I’m getting a lil high brow myself here now, but it seemed to me, it offers a unique perspective on life’s emotional voids. In a world of 30 second TikToks, quick cuts & instant gratification, taking the time to immerse yourself in something like this can be quite rewarding really & while I wouldn’t crown it as a classic myself, I can definitely understand why Will finds films like this “intellectually stimulating” & fancy film buffs have placed it among the BEST of the last decade. 🏆 @adrienbrody is perfectly cast & I anticipate awards a plenty coming his way 👏🏻 Go & see it @irishfilminstitute & let me know what you think! #pressscreening
