Charli Howard Instagram - I was living in NYC when Trump was first elected. I remember it like it was yesterday. The idea of him being elected was so crazy and insane to most people that it was genuinely laughable. And then, sure enough, he beat Hillary.

We saw what he was like as President and we saw what he was like after. We watched the video of him in 2016 about ā€œgrabbing women by the p*ssyā€. He’s racist; misogynistic; crude. He makes fun of people with disabilities. Not surprisingly, the man linked to Epstein wants to take women’s reproductive rights away. He has 34 felony convictions. His VP, JD Vance, has called Kamala ā€œtrashā€ and ā€œr*tardedā€. It doesn’t matter what evil spews from his mouth. He is an orange cockroach, unable to disappear.

This election has proved to me one thing, which is that people would rather have a known (!) lying, cheating, racist, rapist for a President, than a woman: especially a woman of colour.

One voter said he didn’t want to vote for Kamala because of how ā€œemotionalā€ women become during their time of the month (she’s 60???). Even a Democratic video produced for men, showing how to vote for Kamala ā€œin secretā€, reiterates how men find women - especially those in power - embarrassing. It’s EMBARRASSING to vote for a woman.

I am scared of what’s to come for women & girls - not just in the Western world, but for women globally. Every day produces a new story about female oppression - some of which I’ve included here. Women in Afghanistan not being allowed to speak, socialise outside, or look at men in the eye. Women in Iran being killed or put into psychiatric wards for showing skin. More and more women being victims of image-based assault or domestic abuse.

I look at the young girls around me and worry for their future. I worry about if, and when, I have a daughter, whether the world will be better for them: not just for their reproductive rights, but with other issues, like climate change.

Part of me gets pleasure knowing my gender threatens and scares so many men. But it’s exhausting knowing how little the men who claim to protect you care about you - and how, even in 2024, being a woman automatically makes you a second-class citizen. šŸ–¤

Charli Howard Instagram - What constitutes a ā€œflatteringā€ image of a female body? The type that clothes effortlessly hang off of? A washboard stomach with abs? When I was younger, I never thought I’d be able to see the beauty in stretch marks, dimples or marks on skin. I never thought I’d find myself beautiful if I had the slightest bit of ā€œfatā€ or cellulite; if I didn’t look emaciated and thin. Nowadays, I love looking at my body and reminding myself of what it’s continuously done for me; how it’s never given up on me. I love seeing skin with texture; with lines; with stories to tell. I’m not interested in looking picture perfect anymore. I want to love my body for everything it gives me and will continue to give me until I die. šŸ–¤

Charli Howard - 18.6K Likes - I was living in NYC when Trump was first elected.

But it’s exhausting knowing how little the men who claim to protect you care about you - and how, even in 2024, being a woman automatically makes you a second-class citizen. šŸ–¤

Even a Democratic video produced for men, showing how to vote for Kamala ā€œin secretā€, reiterates how men find women – especially those in power – embarrassing. It’s EMBARRASSING to vote for a woman. I am scared of what’s to come for women & girls – not just in the Western world, but for women globally. Every day produces a new story about female oppression – some of which I’ve included here. But it’s exhausting knowing how little the men who claim to protect you care about you – and how, even in 2024, being a woman automatically makes you a second-class citizen. šŸ–¤

But it’s exhausting knowing how little the men who claim to protect you care about you – and how, even in 2024, being a woman automatically makes you a second-class citizen. šŸ–¤

Charli Howard - 13.4K Likes - What constitutes a ā€œflatteringā€ image of a female body? I want to love my body for everything it gives me and will continue to give me until I die. šŸ–¤

Charli Howard - 6K Likes - I was SO honoured to go to the Houses of Parliament again yesterday with my @glamouruk fam to take part in a roundtable about image-based abuse and the danger of deepfakes ā¤ļø I’ve been a part of this campaign since the beginning & while a lot has been achieved in the past year, there’s still a LONG way to go in maintaining women and girls’ safety. I’m in awe of all the activists, campaigners, charities and MPs helping bring awareness to this issue.
