When I booked Alysia for the show, I thought our chat would be about things like her career as an actor 🎬, maybe some insider tea from movie sets… 🕵🏻♀️🤫🍿
And, yes… we got into some of that that… 😉

I don’t know that I’ve ever been as inspired by someone as I was sitting across from this dynamo (who arrived, by the way, with glitter✨ freckles✨ across✨ her✨face✨ – which immediately set the vibe!!).
Not only did she play Natalie “Fig” Figueroa on Netflix’s groundbreaking Orange Is the New Black (where she earned a SAG Award as part of the stellar cast)… Alysia’s talents go far beyond the screen.
Unlike the many other denizens of Hollywood I’ve encountered throughout my career, Alysia puts her money where her mouth is:
👑Not only is she a passionate advocate for women’s rights… 🖤 prison reform, and 🌎 climate change… she shows up where it really counts in her community.
What do I mean?
Well… for one: she’s an emergency foster parent 👶🏼
(the most beautiful, selfless thing I can imagine doing)
… and also… during the pandemic, she became…
a firefighter! 🚒🔥
WHAT?!
That’s right. You heard me.
Like… a REAL one. 👩🚒❤️🔥
