Feb 2022 when I was discussing Berlin and my character, everyone advised me against
It. The length of the character was small. And it had no dialogues at all.
I wondered how would I communicate my character’s internal state.. without dialogues and that is what made me most interested in it.
In fact she dint have a name.. which meant she could be anything – she was a woman.
All this and the fact that I loved @atulsanalog ‘s work and believed in him and the script was so different.. it had wonderful actors like @aparshakti_khurana and @ishwaksingh who were friends and had my all time favourite @rahulbose. I had to work with him.
N so I said yes.
3 years later I was standing on @iifa
stage, getting my first iifa award
for the same performance.
Apart from being eternally grateful, it gave me the confidence that we as actors can
choose to do roles irrespective of the calculations, just for our heart and
enjoyment of craft. Choose ppl, projects, experiences that intrigue us.
N the jurors would notice the intent and nuances of the character without a voice. Thank you @iifa
I grew to deeply appreciate @zeestudiosofficial team and through Berlin made some wonderful friends in the ever enthusiastic team helmed by @shariq_patel which worked hard to make real, nuanced movies like Berlin happen.
