What’s California living for me? This. This photo sums it up perfectly. We spend so much time up here on our roof, taking in the soothing sounds of the waves and the salt in the air. I love how connected to nature this space feels and is, organically.

The rumors are true. I really do LOVE hanging out with my kids! I hope that these moments of traveling the world together will be some of their fondest memories. I look at them and can’t believe how quickly they’re outgrowing my lap. I’m savoring every minute I have left of these days.

Traveling with my boys has always been a top priority for me. We just returned from Japan, and we had a great time visiting the kids’ 10th country. I’m taking time out to be present and ensure that before they’re full-blown teens, we’ve established a solid relationship.

It’s all about the details. Everything in this photo is seemingly white, but texture and simplicity are a powerful combination. Adding layers of interest allows me to create a sense of curated serenity. I can incorporate multiple design styles that still feel cohesive and intentional.

They have virtually no worries. Kids don’t worry about the state of the economy, climate or politics. Life IS challenging, but we could still learn a lot from our kids. Stressing over things we cannot change is a waste of energy. After all, we could all be lounging on a boat, instead. 😜
Take it from a designer who loves stone: DON’T try this at home, unless you have a few extra thousand stashed away for DIY incidentals! 😂 As gorgeous as this is, I’d be curious to know how much time was really spent on it with such a small budget. Be weird, be real, be the most honest version of yourself. Then, let it soak into everything you do. Watch how authentic your work becomes, and if something “fails”, you succeed in finding what works for you and what doesn’t. That’s still winning in my book.
