Julia Quinn Instagram – Meta stole every single book I’ve written, with titles in at least 11 different languages, in order to train Llama 3, its flagship AI model.
Even worse, they stole versions that had already been stolen, pirated files illegally uploaded to LibGen by hackers around the world.
It’s not just me. I don’t know a single writer whose work wasn’t stolen. None of us were compensated. None of us were even asked permission. Meta clearly felt their actions were “too big to follow the law.” In other words, if they wanted a few books, they would have to license them. But if they wanted essentially everything, they could claim fair use and take it all.
I am well aware of the hypocrisy in my posting this here on Instagram, which is owned by Meta. I love being here with my readers, but they are making it increasingly difficult to feel okay about it. | Posted on 25/Mar/2025 03:27:32
