Reflecting on Ferré’s designs for Christian Dior, who forged a new vocabulary while staying faithful to the vision of the founder. He studied the shapes and silhouettes extensively, keeping what he recognizes as somewhat permanent or “eternal” in the language of Dior. I wanted to celebrate his architectural mindset and his favorite leitmotiv of the white shirt for the @dior Ready-To-Wear Fall-Winter 2025 reconnecting with the designer’s legacy. The first edition of the Florence Biennale in 1996, curated by Germano Celant, Luigi Settembrini e Ingrid Sischy, was a crucial moment in the history of fashion, as it was the first time that an international exhibit reflected on the cross over between art and fashion. On this occasion, the most notable designers, artists and key fashion personalities of the 1990s were invited to create works that filled the installation spaces. This image shows the sketches of the crinolines which Ferré realized and installed within the Cappelle Medicee, illustrating the overlap between art, architecture and fashion. The architectural dimension of fashion is echoed in the crinolines reinterpreted for the @dior Ready-To-Wear Fall-Winter 2025 collection. One of my favourite moments from the @dior Ready-To-Wear Fall-Winter 2025 show. Telling the forever contemporary story of Orlando, travelling across time and space as a man and a woman, was a way to reflect on the performative dimension of gender and of fashion. As for every collection, we are inspired and fuelled by artistic and literary references. For the last @dior Ready-To-Wear Fall-Winter 2025 moodboard Gianfranco Ferré’s iconic white blouses and his crinolines, were intertwined with the wardrobe of Orlando, and the many ways this figure is still relevant today, his story being reinterpreted across visual artistic media.
