Misha Highstead Instagram – BYD, China’s largest electric vehicle maker, has unveiled a new platform that could give the whole sector a CHARGE!
Specifically, its “super e-platform” would allow EV drivers to fully charge their vehicles in around the same amount of time it’d take to pump gas! With a peak charging speed TWICE as fast as Tesla’s, cars that use it would be able to travel roughly two hundred and fifty miles on a five-minute charge!
Clearly, BYD is excited about this new tech– the new charging architecture will initially be available in two new EVs, and the company has already announced plans to build over FOUR THOUSAND of these ultra-fast charging units across China.
And if that seems ambitious, the company’s enthusiasm is justified. In China last year, sales of battery powered and hybrid vehicles went up by FORTY PERCENT!
