Donald Trump gave Elon Musk full access to your sensitive personal information and data at the Treasury Department. Last night, I hosted a telephone town hall with House Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard Neal to directly address this illegal seizure and detail how Democrats are responding.
Today, our nation and our world has lost a leader who embodied dignity and decency, grace and goodness. Paul and I join in mourning the loss of President Jimmy Carter and in giving thanks for his life, which was saintly in its devotion to public service and peace. At the heart of President Carter’s public service was his fervent commitment to honoring the spark of divinity within every person. He always defended that spark: whether teaching Sunday school in his beloved Maranatha Baptist Church, brokering the landmark Camp David Accords to pave the way to peace or building homes with Habitat for Humanity. As President, his work to restore integrity to the political arena during a difficult chapter in our history was a testament to his firm faith in the sanctity of the public good, which he always placed above his own. After leaving the White House, he carried on his service — leading perhaps the most impactful post-presidency in history. President Carter’s love for his wife, First Lady Rosalynn Carter, is immortal. Their beautiful bond and partnership in service were a wonder to behold. May it be a comfort to their children, Jack, Chip, Jeff and Amy, and the entire Carter family that so many mourn their loss and are praying for them at this sad time.

Today marks 15 years since the Affordable Care Act was signed into law! As we celebrate the ACA, I wanted to look back at some moments in its history and tell the story of how it happened.
The @presidiosf is a national treasure that honors our past and remains an inseparable part of San Francisco’s identity. This weekend, I had the pleasure of joining @senadamschiff on his tour to see firsthand how it strengthens our local community and enriches the next generation.

For a century, the @legionofhonor has been a cornerstone of cultural life in the Bay Area. I was thrilled to help recognize the Legion of Honor’s centennial in San Francisco over the weekend and celebrate the arts as a unifying force across America.
Yesterday, I sat down with @kqed to discuss how millions of Americans across the country rely on federal funding to feed children, support veterans, access health care and more. While the Trump Administration has backed down from their cruel freeze for now, make no mistake: the worst is yet to come. But we don’t agonize, we organize — and we’re going to fight.
It is my honor to represent San Francisco and our City’s values in the Congress. Earlier this week, we celebrated the progress we have made For The Children at our Federal Building where the laws we pass in Washington are connected to our community.

Republicans are once again protecting billionaires and big corporations instead of working families—this time by slashing Medicaid. On this #MedicaidDayofAction, Democrats across the country made it clear that we will not stand for a budget that rips away health care from millions.

Medicaid saves lives as a pillar of health, security and justice for tens of millions of Americans. Â While Republicans plot to end Medicaid as we know it, Democrats are fighting back. Â And with the American people on our side, we will stop them.

Today we mark how far into 2025 women must work to match what men earned in 2024 — a wage gap that has widened to 75¢ on the dollar. On #EqualPayDay, I joined @demwomencaucus to call on Congress to pass our Paycheck Fairness Act and demand women receive equal pay for equal work.

It was a great privilege to join so many over the weekend in celebrating the $1 million in federal funding to renovate @glidememorialchurch. These upgrades will build capacity to serve more San Franciscans and enable @glidesf to continue doing inspirational work every day.
