Nandita Das Instagram – Thanks to the French Film Festival, I was able to screen Manto after almost 7 years in Kolkata, a city I love to share my work with. Most in the audience had watched the film before, some even 2-3 times! The post screening questions were thoughtful and the feedback was overwhelming. Making Manto was a long and special journey, so I always enjoy talking about it.
And then there was the closing night ceremony. I was particularly delighted to meet David Foenkinos, the French author-filmmaker and the Bhutanese director, Dechen Roder. We had a nice long Bangali lunch hosted by the very gracious Nicolas Facino, the director of the Alliance Francaise, Kolkata. It was also lovely to meet the French Consul General of Kolkata, Didier Talpain and friends & colleagues that I seldom meet – Sudhir Mishra, Rituparna Sengupta, Huma Qureshi and Mukesh Chhabra.
Some of you often talk about the saris I wear…my favourite attire! If in Kolkata, my go to place is Weavers Studio. My photos are often not the best at events, but still not in the habit of remembering to get myself clicked! What to do!
