Exciting news! I am thrilled to finally announce that my book Hope in Action: A Memoir About the Courage to Lead will be published by Scribner (US) and Macmillan (UK) at the beginning of November 2025. With this book and telling about my journey, I want to encourage people to take a stance and act for the change they want to see in the world. Despite all the challenges we are facing at the moment, we have to remember – there is hope if there is action. I am more than happy to share my story with all of you soon. 📸 @meerikoutaniemi

The Munich Security Conference 2025 is a wake-up call for Europe. The messages from the US political leadership at the conference were clear and grim: Europe can no longer rely on transatlantic value-based cooperation and support, and Europe will not be at the negotiating table where its future and security are decided. However, the future of Europe and Ukraine cannot be decided over us. The conclusion from the conference is also clear: Europe must take leadership in its own security and strengthen its capabilities in strategic issues. There is no time to waste. Many have commented on President Zelensky’s proposal for an European Joint Armed Forces as unrealistic. I think it is unrealistic not to strengthen our common defense. We can no longer rely that someone else will come to our aid, but we must be able to stand on our own two feet. This requires significant joint financial investments, but it is equally important to increase citizens’ understanding of the changed security environment and strengthen our will to defend our democracies, values and the rules-based international order. And most importantly, we must act now. 📸 Matthias Rüby and Daniel Reinhardt/MSC

I had the honour of speaking today at the European Employment and Social Rights Forum, which focused specifically on skills for a competitive Europe. Thank you Director-General Mario Nava for the invitation. After the event I had the chance to meet and discuss topical matters with the Commissioner for Defence and Space, Andrius Kubilius, with @institutegc Brussels. 🇪🇺
