I co-host a daily show, and almost every week, sometimes more, a femicide case makes its way into the news cycle. Sometimes it’s not just one, but several. It’s heartbreaking. It’s terrifying. And it has to stop. This year alone: 129 women. Killed. Not by strangers. Not in war. At home. In schools. At work. By people who claimed to love them. This is femicide — and in Kenya, it’s not even recognized as a crime. From babies to grandmothers, women are being silenced every day. For saying no. For speaking up. For simply existing. It doesn’t start with murder. It starts with control, abuse, and silence. This April, speak up. Demand justice. Laws alone aren’t enough when harm continues to infiltrate homes, schools, and online spaces. While survivors, activists, and legal experts keep raising their voices, the rest of society must also be held accountable—because this fight isn’t over. I had the privilege of joining @equalitynoworg’s powerful five-part series alongside @phil_director, @bencyco, a group of students, and duty bearers in Nairobi to unpack the evolving nature of violence, including tech-facilitated exploitation. This conversation is urgent. Watch the episode now on Equality Now’s YouTube and explore the rest of the series, featuring the incredible @kambuamuziki. #BreakTheCycle #EndGBV #JusticeForAll

Last night, we came together to launch Kash Money, and the black-and-gold theme set the stage—though, much like the series itself, not everything that glitters is gold. Power. Politics. Passion. With a twist… Kash Money premieres tomorrow, January 31st, on Netflix! Swipe to see the incredible cast and crew behind one of the best sets I’ve worked on ✨ Shoutout to my glam team for bringing this look to life: 💄 Makeup: @mokeiraoyaro_makeup 💇🏽♀️ Hair: @kufuhair 👗 Corset: @yvonneafrostreet 👖 Pants: @hawi_rtw ✨ Styled by: @brianbabu

Where are they? Where are the missing Kenyans? It’s incredibly heartbreaking to hear that some young men have been found dead. This horrific reality is unfolding before us all. We must continue to speak out and push for accountability, even when it weighs heavily on our hearts, souls, and minds. There are parents, families and friends who are having to reconcile with the fact that their children have been cruelly taken from them. On the last image, there are contact numbers to report and get information on human rights violations. Share these and let’s hope we can continue to lend our voices where we can. #EndAbductionsKE

I’m always joining my boys for fun activities—trampoline parks, parent-child games at birthday parties, you name it. But I’ve never done it just for me, without them in tow…and now I’m curious what that feels like! 😅 @sheluv.ke is giving us women a day to just be. Jump, run, play games, laugh, connect, and shake off the holiday stress before it even starts. Bring your squad—friends, cousins, sisters, mums—or just show up solo. Consider it an early holiday gift to yourself. Tickets are 3k for early birds (with lunch and high-tea included!) and available now on @mticketske. You can also contact 0717 301 914 for details. More details at the link in my bio ✨ Let’s make it a day to remember! 💃 PS – look out for an announcement soon where we’ll be spreading holiday cheer with @inuadada, and we’d love to have you on board 🙏🏾 #SheLuvKE #WomenSupportingWomen #HolidayVibes #SelfCareDay #GirlsDayOut #FunAndConnection #BreakFromRoutine
“I won’t expound on this conversation. For real this time.” (Also me: Circles back to it 😬) But hear me out—this matters. Healing is never a straight path, and it often comes with uncomfortable truths. But one thing is certain: you’re not alone. There’s a community here, walking this journey with you. So, let’s take a quick dive into the celibacy conversation—and answer some of your questions. Happy New Month! 🙏🏾 #ItsOfficialWithJanetMbugua #BTS #SingleSoberCelibate #Reflections #NewMonth #December
First please say hello to @kambuamuziki and I👋🏾🥰 We’re excited and honored to join @equalitynoworg in celebrating #GenderJusticeHeroes—women and men who relentlessly report and seek justice for countless survivors of SGBV. Pic 2: The event, hosted by @nyawiragachugi and @koinangejeff, highlights the importance of this work. Pic 3: Earlier, I moderated a panel on Access to Justice, an issue that remains elusive for many Kenyans. The panelists emphasized that progress is being made, and structures are taking shape. What’s also critical is that we integrate response and prevention efforts to effectively combat SGBV. More, soon. Pictures taken by @cyrus.kanyi #16daysofavtivism #EndSGBV #GenderJusticeHeroes

“Purity once told me she looked up to you, Lilian Muli, and Victoria Rubadiri,” Rose said to me as we met. “She was training to be a Journalist and told me, ‘Mum, one day you’ll see me reading the news.’ Little did she know that one day, she would become the news herself.” Rose shared this heartbreaking memory about her daughter, Purity Wangechi, who was brutally murdered in 2022. She stood alongside Hon. Lucy, whose daughter Seth Nyakio was also murdered recently, Sarah, who narrowly survived an attack by a former partner, and Lena, who discovered her 12-year-old daughter’s lifeless body in an unimaginable act of violence. We gathered with @journalistsforhumanrights, @usikimye_, @reprorights and other partners to discuss how media can report femicide cases more responsibly—avoiding sensationalism and ensuring critical follow-ups that demand accountability. While some progress was made, the families’ greatest frustration remains their endless pursuit of justice in a system that often fails them. Rose later said, “I threw a posthumous birthday party for Purity, with a cake. Happy Heavenly 23rd Birthday. People think we’re mad, but we just can’t believe our babies are gone.” No one can truly comprehend their pain, but we can stand with them. We can fight for an end to femicide. Fight for justice. Push back against harmful narratives. And we can keep saying their names. Thank you to @kbcchannel1 for covering this forum during their news bulletin yesterday- for prioritizing this critical conversation. This #16DaysOfActivism and beyond, lets demand meaningful change. #EndFemicide #SayHerName #JusticeForHer #16DaysOfActivism #StopGenderViolence #MediaForJustice
