This time last year I was feeling so nervous and anxious about running the @londonmarathon for @wellchild… I’ve never been great at running long distance but I wanted to something amazing for a charity close to my heart and I accepted the challenge. I still can’t believe that I finished. . . . I know it’s a few weeks until this years’ marathon and I keep seeing people out and about training. If you are running this year and haven’t done it before, all I can say is it’s one of the most amazing and emotional experiences ever… the crowd will keep you going, take a supply of gels and don’t drink too much water enroute . . . . So I’ve noticed I have a few new followers on here and I just wanted to say THANK YOU to both the new and old followers for your continued support. If you have followed me for a while you will know I am pretty passionate about property! . . . I’ve been spending a bit of time working on lots of property stuff recently… both with my overseas renovation project in Mallorca @mypropertyabroad and at home in the UK. . . . I’ve been looking through some of my renovation projects over the years and ‘Lord Roberts on The Green’ was one of the biggest projects to date…it was a commercial and residential development with a shop, a 2 bed flat and a 3 bed house. . . . I became the local post mistress, along side 8 other amazing women, started and built a coffee shop/bistro business and then recruited 24 staff in the community to run it… the team were incredible! . . . I am constantly being asked this question… “What do you think about the proposed increase in property tax in Spain?” So here are my honest thoughts… . Let’s start with the facts, This was part of a 12-point proposal aimed at tackling Spain’s housing crisis, but it’s far from being law. . . . Here’s why I’m not losing sleep over it: 1. It’s just a proposal. Pedro Sánchez leads a minority government, so pushing through new taxes on non-EU buyers? Unlikely. 2. Taxes are regional. There are 17 autonomous regions in Spain, each with the power to set their own purchase transfer tax. Getting them all to agree? Also unlikely. 3. Non-EU buyers only make up 3% of property transactions in Spain. So targeting them won’t fix the housing crisis. . . . And let’s not forget: Spain thrives on tourism. The majority of locals want visitors and foreign investment. Tourism is vital, and welcomed. . . . So…Thinking of booking a holiday to Spain? Do it. Considering buying a home here?
