It’s the Trans Day of Visibility and I want to leave the light shining on people who have fought, wished they could fight or lost the fight to transition. But I will add one personal note: if hormone blockers had been a thing I knew existed when I was an adolescent, I would have begged for them. I did not love growing into the shape of a woman. I cut my own hair off when I was barely able to hold scissors. If I could have remained in an androgynous body to match my androgynous mind, and been able to do so without deep shame and great danger, my life would have taken a very different course. I have made peace with living in a body that at times felt like it was engineered by Kafka. And I am in experiential solidarity with all women everywhere (even the stupid bitches) and all trans, non binary and intersex people who fight the good fight to stay alive and safe in their bodies. Lastly, I would like to say to all the TERFs, who are now campaigning for the tests of womanhood which will find them prodded and violated too: I pity your failure of imagination and your wilful ignorance. If you think the fascists will stop what you’ve started, you are the dumbest cunts on earth. PS: This is me and my bestie who is filled with trans joy living our best lives on vacation. And I swear to God, if anyone fucks with him I’m gonna be everyone’s problem.
Come to Brazil! and where’s home? My answer to both: yes. And yes this is home. My people are here in Brazil. And tonight, after falling ill the last tour I’m finally really here and I’ve brought a person I love and admire very deeply for We Still Believe in São Paulo: None other than Moodymann AKA Kenny Dixon Jr., a certified freaky mf, the mayor of Detroit and one of the kindest people I have the pleasure of seeing on the road. If you came for the last show when I was unable to play, this night will be just the healing we all need. If you spend enough time in this place, it crawls into you. And then I find I that I count the minutes to come to: Brazil. YES! This is the place I waited for my whole life to play. The place I my heart waited to be changed by. The place that changed my life. The way I view the world. The place Ricardo Villalobos handed the keys to the dawn to be at the Sambadrome. The sun came up over the east. So we are back with our friends. Our family here. Friday. Sundeck. We’re going to get free together. Don’t ask me where I got that fudge from. It’s a secret.

Happier has gone platinum! My endless gratitude goes out to my collaborators TEED, Pat, Hen and of course Clementine Douglas who is the singular reason this record exists. Life is good <3’
So, our studio got robbed. BIG ROBBED. We have all we need. It’s just stuff. But the robbers took the computer that two best friends wrote 200 songs on. I think about how many of our laughs that computer had in it. It held the sound of my father’s voice. Me and Pat always felt like if the world was ending we’d be ok in there, the only basement on earth with a skylight. The light is still there. Life goes on. I like that Apple has the option to automatically erase a stolen computer and send a message to the thief when it erases. This was ours. XO, the GODSQUAD

YO. This is a legit emergency. For real: me, probably your literal mom and grandma and aunties and a lot of the people of live overseas are about to lose the right to vote and IM AM NOT KIDDING it is game over for any shred of democracy in America. You think it’s bad now? Wait until women, overseas residents, trans people, moms etc literally CANNOT vote. The House calendar has the SAVE Act slotted for a floor vote this week. We have today and (possibly) early tomorrow to call our representative before the vote. Please take a moment to join in the CALLING AND FLOODING the phones in Congress. Reaching out to the House now will also influence the Senate if the bill passes, so it’s a great action to take. And once you’ve called, please ask your friends and family to call. The SAVE Act will reach into every family’s home and affect our ability to vote through its extreme registration requirements. It is fundamentally damaging to democracy. The SAVE Act amends the National Voter Registration Act to require voters registering or changing their registration information to provide ID that hundreds of millions of Americans do not have, and forcing that ID to be presented in person. These requirements severely restrict access to voting, especially for those abroad, in the military, in rural communities, married women, students, disabled and seniors. Furthermore, it imposes criminal penalties on election workers if they register voters who fail to provide documentary proof of their U.S. citizenship, and will cost many millions of dollars to implement across state electoral systems. The SAVE Act claims to be about preventing non-citizen voting, but it is already illegal for non-citizens to vote in American elections and there is no widespread evidence of noncitizens voting in U.S. elections. Instead it creates barriers that will disenfranchise millions of eligible voters, overwhelm election officials, and sow distrust in the electoral process.
