Rishi Sunak Instagram – The NHS holds a special place in all our hearts.
For every minute of the last 75 years the NHS has been there.
Kept going by the millions of people who do the impossible every day.
From the babies born to the lives saved, our NHS is a unique, special part of our identity.
For me that connection runs deep. I grew up in an NHS household and I saw every day the dedication it takes to give patients the round-the-clock care they need.
That’s why one of my top priorities is to cut waiting lists. And it’s why I am thinking of the NHS staff as we celebrate the NHS’s 75th birthday today.
This isn’t just talk. It’s backed up by action.
Last week we announced an historic long-term staffing plan for the NHS.
It’s a plan made by the NHS and backed by government. And it will deliver more of the doctors and nurses that make our health service so special.
Let’s meet some of them 👇
Lead Nurse, Daniel Harris told me he has been working in the NHS since he was 18.
“I get to educate, develop and influence so many students to give them the best learning opportunity”
Reem Santos is a pharmacist who works in the NHS every day and she told me:
“I’ve always been inspired by the people working in the NHS – pure and simple: their experience, knowledge, and expertise, and of course their diversity.”
And Conor Clay – he received a life-saving kidney transplant then left his job to work at the hospital that saved his life, he told me:
“There’s nothing more rewarding than coming to work and making people feel safe every day.”
These are just some of the millions of stories behind our NHS.
To all NHS staff, on behalf of a grateful nation, I want to say: thank you. | Posted on 05/Jul/2023 22:01:34
