Chloé Hayden Instagram – TW: statistics and discussions of sexual violence
We are facing a national crisis.
And, because people see it as a ‘women’s issue’, nothing has been done about it.
In Australia, a woman is murdered every four days.
Sexual violence is at an all time high.
Little girls are at a particularly high risk.
And if you are disabled, indigenous or autistic; these statistics jump up instrumentally.
More than 90% of autistic women will face sexual violence.
I became this statistic at seven.
And I’ve continued to be a part of that statistic ever since.
I got cat called weekly walking down the street in my school uniform (I haven’t since I turned 18)
I got sent unsolicited penis photos when I was 12 (they knew how old I was)
I have weekly death threat messages from men, daily slut shaming, Twitter pages and reddit threads dedicated to finding ‘upskirt’ and ‘naked’ photos of me and rating how ‘f*ck*ble’ I am.
This is not a women’s issue, this is a men’s issue.
And it is because men are taught from the moment that they are born that they hold greater value, that women are disable, that women are property.
He just hits you because he likes you.
Don’t respect your girlfriend, that’s ‘simp’ behaviour.
Dont have feelings, that’s for girls.
Men, call out your friends.
Fathers, raise your sons correctly.
To the Australian Government; it’s time for you to treat this for what it is. An emergency; and a direct attack on women.
If you are not angry, you are not paying attention. | Posted on 28/Apr/2024 15:29:53
