🌸[Hanami at Bills starts tomorrow!]🌸 Bills has long been one of my favorite places in Tokyo for brunch, but the other day I had the chance to go for a hanami *dinner* tasting and try their new vegan dishes! 🌱 I was very impressed– every single dish was bursting with flavor, with each recipe clearly expertly curated with unique ingredients that leave you with a wonderfully luxurious taste. (I personally loved the butter bean purée – it’s very reminiscent of hummus!) 😋 They also have a new Cherry Blossom Gin cocktail and Cherry Blossom Soda to sip on while you enjoy their seasonal cherry blossom décor inside the restaurant! 🌸🌸 You can bask in the blossoms of spring over brunch or dinner there from March 1 – April 9. 😍🌸 Definitely go check out their fantastic vegan and non-vegan dishes and get a little hanami in while you’re at it! 😁🌸 Omg who else is getting so excited for spring?!

I recently went on super fun trip with @cheeserland to Yawatahama, Ehime on the picturesque island of Shikoku. ☀️ It’s a region that is renowned across Japan for its amazing “mikan” (mandarin oranges) 🍊so we were very excited to join a tour led by local female farmers where we learned how to harvest their abundant mikan, made mikan juice *fresh* right in the orchard (best juice I’ve ever had!), and later enjoyed a homemade bento lunch where nearly every item was infused with mikan. 😋🍊 The wonderful local farmers were as sweet as their oranges and taught us their secrets to making their internationally-award-winning mikan marmalade to enjoy fresh and even take back home! ✨ Ehime is quite possibly one of my favorite prefectures in Japan, and with its breathtaking sea views surrounded by terraced hills brimming with oranges, this experience in Yawatahama city is definitely one that the mandarin orange lovers of the world won’t want to miss!! 🍊🍊✨ Try out the tour for yourself on byfood.com! 😋🧡 #mikan #MikanFarmerExperience @eatmeetjapan2022 #eatmeetjapan #awardwinningtour #japan #travel #offthebeatenpath 🌿

All about my recent Hinagashi-making experience in Tsuruoka, Yamagata prefecture for @eatmeetjapan2022! It was so much fun learning how to make the traditional sweets of this region, especially from the professional artisans themselves. ✨ You can book cultural food experiences like this all across Japan on the “Eat! Meet! Japan” website if you want a more local, hands-on experience on your next Japan trip! 😊🙌🏼✨ Would you try making Hinagashi? 😍🎎

Many of you may know already, but I have a podcast!!! 😆 It’s called “Half x Half” as it’s hosted by me and @maxdcapo who are both half-Japanese. You may not know THIS, but I’ve known Max for 12 years already!! 🤯 We go way back to our Sophia University days; and you may be surprised to know that my YouTube debut was actually a few silly videos that I appeared in on Max’s channel in like 2011 or 2012! 😂 I am certain you will enjoy listening to us recollect the hilarity and confusion of our early days in Japan when we still knew very little about life here – and we hope to share not only an in-depth look into Japanese culture and life, but also share some perspectives on the “Hafu” (or half-Japanese) experience… because Tokyo is where we discovered that there are a lot of other people like us! 😆 We definitely found our community here, and we hope we can create a community for both fellow multicultural people and Japan-lovers alike through this podcast too! You can follow our Instagram ( @halfxhalfpodcast ) where we post fun reels; and you can find the podcast by searching “Half x Half Podcast” on both YouTube and Spotify! ✨ Hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoy recording it! 🥰❤️ P.S… The following pictures were taken with self-timer to promote the podcast but I have no idea what the last two poses were supposed to be. 🤣 (Are we showing off our Asian squat in #3? 😂 We will never know.
